Course Description

  • People only listen accurately 25% of the time
  • Most people will only remember 50% of what has just been said to them!
  • Over the long term, the average person will only retain around 20% of what has been spoken to them.

These sad statistics explain much about why work projects and relationships are sometimes a struggle.

Everyone today is distracted by pings and notifications all the time. From the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep, constantly pinging and being connected. This degree of distraction is a huge obstacle to active listening.

The attention spans have shrunk by over 50% over the last 10 years. This is why TV and online ads are all so short.

  • Snapchats and TikToks are 7 seconds long
  • YouTube has launched the Shorts segment

Advertisers know this is all we have the attention span for.

Short attention spans affect our listening, and it’s just getting worse.

All of this combined clearly shows we’re all suffering from sensory overload and exhausted from it. Then top this with our overactive minds; it’s no wonder that proper listening is so difficult today!

With proper tools and techniques, developing new listening skills and breaking yourself free from the cycle that so many of us are stuck in is possible.

Benefits of Active Listening:

  • You can make better decisions because you’ll have the skill to process more information effectively.
  • You’ll be able to see the hidden messages and agendas behind what someone is saying and can tell when people are lying to you.
  • You’ll have better, more profound, and connected relationships with the people at work and in your life because it shows you care about them and what they have to say.
  • You’ll have more substantial and fulfilling conversations, even when engaged in small talk

Successful listening skills are a game changer for any professional as you strive to accomplish your goals, build a solid team, and outsmart most conflicts.

Why you should attend

As leaders, it’s tempting to get so caught up in our own voice, in what we have to say, we drown out everyone else.

When you stop listening, your leadership voice falls on deaf ears because you lose touch with the very people you are leading.

Poor listening leads to assumptions and misunderstandings. These lead to errors, ineffective decisions, and/or costly mistakes.

On a personal level, poor listening leads to hurt feelings and a loss of team cohesion. This deteriorates trust and weakens communication even further.

If you haven’t been listening, I challenge you to take some aggressive steps now to reset your leadership style. Pay special attention to the areas in your organization and the people in your organization who have grown silent.

Just because people aren’t talking, it doesn’t mean that don’t have anything to say!

Join this interactive webinar, where Amanda Box shows you how to listen actively.

Participants will learn step by step how to assess listening barriers, interpret nonverbal communication with skill, and work on focus.

This seminar is useful for anyone who wants to improve professional and interpersonal listening skills.

Take these steps and your leadership voice will grow stronger and your leadership impact will be greater!
